Space for Photography
With a maximum of three guests per safari vehicle, the group travels across multiple vehicles. I rotate between them throughout the journey, spending time with each group and offering photography guidance along the way.

Why November for a Tanzania Photography Safari?
Our safari takes place in mid-November, as Tanzania typically begins its green-season transition—and that timing is a deliberate choice. The short rains bring fresh growth and changing skies, adding another dimension to the photography experience. Showers are part of the season, though their timing and intensity vary.
What draws us to this season is its photographic atmosphere: plains beginning to turn green, dramatic cloud formations, and the possibility of photographing wildlife as rain moves across the landscape. November generally brings fewer visitors than the peak dry-season months, offering the potential for a quieter safari experience
As the short rains encourage fresh growth, the migration herds begin their journey south through the Serengeti. Their movements—and their arrival around Ndutu—depend on the rains rather than a fixed calendar.
For us, the appeal goes beyond following the herds. It is the changing light, the wildlife encounters, and the chance to photograph Tanzania in a different mood.

From the baobab landscapes of Tarangire to Lake Eyasi, Ndutu, and the Serengeti, this journey brings together wildlife photography, cultural encounters, and time to connect with the places we explore.

DAY 1 | Arrival in Arusha
Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport and transfer to Arusha. In the evening, we gather for a relaxed welcome and an introduction to our photography journey together.

DAYS 2–3 | Tarangire National Park
Explore Tarangire’s baobab landscapes in search of elephants and other wildlife. We take time to observe animal behaviour and work with the available light, photographing both wildlife encounters and the wider landscape.

DAY 4 | Lake Eyasi & the Datoga
Spend time with members of the Datoga community near Lake Eyasi, learning about local craftsmanship and everyday life. The focus is on conversation and connection, with opportunities for portrait photography where permission is given.

DAY 5 | Lake Eyasi & Gibb’s Farm
An early visit with members of the Hadzabe community offers time to listen, learn, and photograph with permission. Afterwards, we continue to Gibb’s Farm for a peaceful afternoon to rest, reflect, and enjoy the surroundings.
Overnight: Gibb’s Farm
Days 6–7 — Ndutu & Southern Serengeti
Travel to Ndutu and explore the southern Serengeti landscapes. Our photography follows the wildlife we encounter and the changing light, with time for both animal behaviour and wider views of the plains.
Seasonal conditions and wildlife movements shape each day’s opportunities.

DAYS 8–9 | Serengeti National Park
Continue exploring the Serengeti on game drives shaped around wildlife activity, light, and photographic opportunities. We take time to watch behaviour, consider our compositions, and enjoy the encounters as they unfold.

DAY 10 | Scenic Flight to Arusha & Farewell Evening
Enjoy a final morning in the wilderness before flying back to Arusha. In the evening, we gather to share photographs, stories, and favourite moments from our journey.
Overnight: Gran Melia Arusha
DAY 11 | Departure from Arusha
After breakfast, transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your onward journey—with photographs, memories, and stories to bring home.
Our daily rhythm remains flexible: wildlife, weather, and light help guide our time on safari.

My Tanzania Safari Partner | Still Waters Safaris
Behind Still Waters Safaris are Amanda and Asnath Kessy, two sisters whose connection to Tanzania’s safari industry began long before they founded their own company. Growing up with a father who worked in the industry, they saw how travel could connect people with wildlife, landscapes, and local communities. That experience became the foundation of their shared ambition.
Their professional paths initially took them in different directions, with Amanda pursuing a career in banking before making the leap into tourism. Together, they built Still Waters Safaris—a locally owned, women-led company rooted in their Tanzanian heritage and a desire to create thoughtful, personal journeys.
For the sisters, building a business was also an opportunity to make more space for women in an industry where female ownership was still uncommon. Empowering women and giving back to their communities became part of the purpose behind the company.
That makes our collaboration on this women-only Tanzania photography safari particularly meaningful to me. It brings together women-led safari expertise and a shared vision of women exploring, connecting, and growing through travel and photography.
