Behind the Lens — Women-Only Photography Safaris in Africa
I first came to Africa 27 years ago and I have been going back ever since, always with a camera. What keeps me returning is the wildlife, the light early and late in the day, and not knowing what the next morning will bring.
From the Skies to the Savannah
I worked as a flight attendant for 40 years, much of that time in First Class, looking after guests from all over the world. That is where I learned to listen, to see what someone needs before they ask, and to notice the small things that make a person feel looked after.
I bring the same attention to the women who travel with me. The setting is different but the care is the same: a proper welcome, an eye for how different people like to travel, and someone who notices what you need. I want you to feel comfortable asking questions, trying something new, and simply enjoying being there.
Wildlife Photography takes patience
I have spent countless hours in hides, safari vehicles and camps across Africa, waiting for an elephant to step into golden light or a cheetah to lift her head above the grass. What keeps me going back is not only the animal itself but the watching, and learning to recognise a moment worth waiting for.
That is how I teach wildlife photography on safari. We take our time, watch how the light changes, and look beyond the first obvious picture. Along the way I help you get to know your camera, work on composition and make your own creative decisions with more confidence.
Why I Bring Women Together
I want a safari where you can be adventurous and relaxed at the same time: questions are welcome, everyone shares what they know, and nobody feels they are competing. My small-group photography safaris leave me time to work with each of you personally. Whether you are still learning your camera settings or refining your style, I start from where you are.
You don’t need to see the world the way I do. I’d like to help you trust your own eye and give you the support to follow it.
More Than a Photo Safari
Some of the best moments happen between photographs: listening to a guide talk about the animals, watching elephants gather quietly at a waterhole, or sharing a smile with the others after a sighting nobody expected.
For me those moments belong at the centre of the trip. There is time to stop, to watch, and sometimes to put the camera down. I want you to go home with photographs you like, and also with the feeling that you were really there.
